Pictures Are Worth 1000 Words!

As we get ready to leave Israel in a few days, here are a few pictures from around the land.

More Sukkot pictures

Here are a few more pictures that we took of sukkahs the past few weeks. We have enjoyed celebrating the fall feasts in Israel. We took a few trips into Jerusalem the past week. Tens of thousands of pilgrims coming into the city created quite a traffic jam for miles outside of the city. We explored some new routes to get into Jerusalem and when we got there, found some major roads blocked off for a parade. The Bible museum had a travelling display of the history of the Bible. On display were some original Jewish prayer books as old as the 9th century. Also on display was the original Tyndale Bible. It was a very informative and excellant display. Parking the car was a huge issue, as hundreds of other people had the same idea…enjoy!

Sukkot Celebration

Jeff and I were at the homes of two different friends this past week and helped them put up and decorate their sukkahs. We had our first Sukkot dinner at another friends house. Here are some pictures that will give you an idea of what we have been up to.

City of David, Jerusalem

Jeff and I met Peggy P at the City of David, Jerusalem. We had a fascinating time climbing over the remains of David’s Palace and learning the history of the City of David. We walked at least 1/3 of a mile through the old underground water system that carried the water from Gihon Spring (outside the old city walls) into the city of Jerusalem. These tunnels and drainage canals are at least 2000 years old, and are still functional. The pool of Shiloah (Siloam) was recorded in 2 Kings 20:20, “The other events of Hezekiah’s reign, and all his exploits, and how he made the pool and the conduit and brought the water into the city of Jerusalem are recorded….” Second Temple sources mention the Shiloah Pool in regard to Temple ceremonies, “How was the Water Libation performed? The priest would fill a golden flask holding 3 logs (a liquid measure) with water from Shiloah…(Mishnah Sukkah 4:9).

Our City of Beer Sheva

Shalom everyone!
Sue and I pray that all of you around the world are doing well, growing closer to The Lord, and walking more in the purpose He created you for.
Each of you are unique and special in the eyes and heart of God.

Many of you I’m sure, have wondered what this desert city of Beer Sheva is
really like. The thought of a desert town elicits images of something out of the old west or the Australian out back. To give you all a realistic view, we have posted this video link to show some of our cities beauty and culture.
Blessings to All,
Jeff & Sue

The North Country

Here are a few pictures from our trip to the Northern region of Israel. From Wikipedia: “Tiberias is a city on the western shore of the Sea of Galilee (also called the Kinneret), Lower Galilee, Israel. Established in 20 CE, it was named in honour of the emperor Tiberius. Tiberias was venerated in Judaism from the middle of the 2nd century CE and since the 16th century has been considered one of Judaism’s Four Holy Cities, along with Jerusalem, Hebron and Safed. In the 2nd–10th centuries, Tiberias was the largest Jewish city in the Galilee and the political and religious hub of the Jews of Palestine.

Capernaum was reported to have been the hometown of the apostles Simon Peter, Andrew, James and John, as well as the tax collector Matthew. One Sabbath, Jesus taught in the synagogue in Capernaum and healed a man who had the spirit of an unclean devil. Jesus selected this town as the center of his public ministry in the Galilee after he left the small mountainous hamlet of Nazareth (Matthew 4:12–17). He also formally cursed the city, saying “You shall be brought down to Hades,” (Matthew 11:23) because of their lack of response to his teaching. (Wikipedia)
